Our architectural possibility is inspired by the healthy european lifestyle which is the result of transport orientated planning. From personal experiences, Europeans have a very social lifestyle which reflects their ranking in 'The Happiest Countries in the World' article [http://finance.yahoo.com/news/the-happiest-countries-in-the-world.html?page=all]. I believe this is due to the fact that it is part of their lifestyle to walk or cycle to their destination which gives the opportunity to appreciate the environment they live in. They are comfortable in their surroundings and they appreciate the time spent with friends and family.

Whereas, in Australia, I feel people are pressured in society and rarely find the opportunity to appreciate their surroundings. Immersing ourselves in technology has taken away social interaction and we are slowly wasting time. We will begin to become obessed with technology as a means of social interaction.

The report conducted by 24/7 Wall St shows interesting results and suprisingly Australia made the list. It can be seen that Australia has faced the financial crisis with positive growth; post-financial peak unemployment rate of only 5.7%.

At the present time, we're heading in a steady direction and we may soon hit a peak where our population escalades where we have no structure enforced to deal with trauma. How can we satisfy human needs with appropriate infrastructure?

Tutorial Snapshot

The architecture opportunities are to alter the perception of Brisbane Central District to reflect one is liveable and sustainable place, welcoming and gathering space for all. Prevent urban illness by developing physical, mental, social resilience through improved infrastructure.

The buildings of Brisbane Central District fail to connect with each other. By forming architectural podiums between city buildings, we are forming ‘connectors’ that serve  as open space now; creating a continuous street front for gathering people. The building program is transformed from commercial into multi-functional high rises. Due to the Congestion Charge, there is going to be less car parking required, thus the Myer Centre underground car park will become a falling water swimming pool for social interaction. This architectural model alters the perception of city living. We want to give users the opportunity to re-model the city social structure to reflect one that connects with community, residential and business living.
