People and Lifestyles

Ideally, in the 50 years, the sustainable lifestyle is more desired. Our thought processes and goals may be altered due to whatever urban traumas we face. I find it interesting that we as humans have an immense psychological ability to deal with disasters and many of us are unaware of the power of the mind.

Throughout life, we are inevitably faced with trauma or disaster at one point of our lives. We may not be directly affected but it can certainly affect the enivironment we live in as well as how we choose to live our lives. For example, the 9/11 attacks will forever affect the way we perceive religion, global power and our sense of security will always be questioned.

By researching this topic, I found a number of interesting questions that I was eager to find answers to;
/ Who controls us?
// Are our lives controlled by technology?
/// Are government policies too harsh that we will begin to lose freedom and respect for each other?
//// Will technology eventually take over and there will be no jobs for civilians?
/ What will happen if we face trauma even bigger than 9/11?
// What if this disaster occurs on a local scale, say Brisbane?
/// Has our government planned for this?
//// What will time feel like in 50 years?
/ Will our worlds feel like their moving at such a fast pace that we begin to suffer from psychological illness?
// How can we curve the speed of technology so that it will forever have a positive affect on our lifestyle?
/// Will people become overly competitive and lose their sense of reality?

Ken Robinson says schools kill creativity

This video appealed to me because it is a topic that is rarely discussed and no change has really been made to the education system since it was developed. Robinson raises key issues regarding our education model which reflects one of heirarchal status. For example, subjects such as maths and english are considered the most 'academic' and success cannot occur without basic knowledge of these subjects. Whereas, creative subjects such as dance and music are considered at the bottom of the education system with no lead to a successful career. The problem with this is that we are beginning to lose the appreciation for creative talent. How can we predict future scenarios without imagination?
